Hon. C. Randall Hinrichs

Judge HinrichsC. Randall Hinrichs was elected as a County Court Judge and took office on January 1, 2002. After serving one year in the Family Court, Judge Hinrichs has presided over a criminal calendar in County Court since 2003. Judge Hinrichs was named an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 2004 and was appointed as the Supervising Judge of the County Court on April 25, 2008. Judge Hinrichs was elected as a New York State Supreme Court Justice, and began serving his term as Supreme Court Justice on January 1, 2010. Judge Hinrichs was named as “Judge of the Year” by the Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association in 2007. Justice Hinrichs currently sits in a Criminal Term of the Supreme Court and also serves as Supervising Judge of the County Court.

Justice Hinrichs is a graduate of Bucknell University and SUNY at Buffalo Law School and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1982. Justice Hinrichs began his legal career in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and served from March,1982 to December, 2001. Justice Hinrichs served as Bureau Chief and was the recipient of Distinguished Service Awards and Trial Advocacy Awards. He successfully prosecuted numerous murder cases after being among the first attorneys assigned to Homicide Bureau upon its formation in 1987.

Justice Hinrichs is an adjunct professor at Suffolk Community College and has taught in the Criminal Justice Program since 2001. Justice Hinrichs is a member of the New York State, Suffolk County, and Suffolk County Criminal Bar Associations. Justice Hinrichs is married with three children.
