Goals and Objectives

The Adolescent Divers ion Part [ADP] seeks to promote the administration of justice for 16 and 17 year old defendants in criminal cases. The goal is to encourage non-criminal dispositions that provide an opportunity for adolescents to avoid the legal and collateral consequences of a criminal record. To accomplish this goal, the Court seeks to provide a criminal justice response that includes age-appropriate services, interventions, and penalties.

Eligibility

The ADP accepts misdemeanor and violation level cases. This may include felony level reductions. Cases are screened at arraignment by the Court and approval by the Onondaga County District Attorney is required for a transfer to the ADP.
