Justice Daniel F. Luciano was born around the year 1931 and raised in New York City. He graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.A. and later earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1954. He then served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a military attorney. Upon returning home, Luciano began a civil law practice. Then, from 1970 until 1982, he worked in Islip as an Assistant Town Attorney.
In 1982, Luciano was elected to the Supreme Court. In 1991, he was selected to preside over Guardianship Proceedings in Suffolk County. Two years later, he was appointed as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Term. Governor George E. Pataki designated him to the Appellate Division, Second Department in 1996. Justice Luciano also served on the state commission on Judicial Conduct that year. He left the bench in 2006.
Luciano's memberships included the New York State Bar Association, the Association of Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York and the Alexander Hamilton Inn of Court. He also served as Advisory Council for the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center of Touro College.
He was married to Beverly and had a son and a grandson. He died due to cancer on April 11, 2011 in Oakdale, Long Island the age of 80.
