I am a Father who needed to use the courts to stay in my son's life. Ms. Sandy V. has been extremely helpful to me for over eight years in directing me towards the proper channels. Whenever I called for assistance she was always courteous, polite, kind, and helpful. This is so rare to find these days. Although I attend Family Court in Manhattan I can't find anyone as helpful in directing me towards the proper channels as Ms. V. in New Rochelle. She is a good human being, a light tower in a storm and a blessing to my family. I congratulate you for supervising such a great team member.

Dear Chief B.,

I am writing this letter to convey my belated thanks to your wonderful court officers. I am a local attorney who has been a visitor to Westchester's court house for many years. I had always been impressed by the professional and courteous attitude of your officers, but I recently learned just how able they are.

On May 4, I had the misfortune of falling down a flight of concrete steps, used as a detour during renovation of the court house. I knew that I was hurt, but not that my left hip had been fractured in the fall.

The officers arrived almost immediately. They asked the correct medical questions (I am a former emergency room nurse practitioner)and summoned an ambulance immediately.

They were calm, caring and fully prepared to protect me from further harm. Although I asked to be helped to my feet, they would not ailow me to move.

Even more remarkable was the manner in which they helped me deal with pain and fear. They engaged me in a gentle conversation, designed to calm me and to provide them with data about my medical condition. When I began to shiver, they correctly concluded that I was going into shock. An officer, whose nickname is, I believe, "OH, " instantly removed his jacket and covered me with it. I felt that I could not be in more competent, warm and genuinely concerned hands.

I was even contacted by several officers after my emergency surgery. Once I returned to the court house, I .was repeatedly greeted with enthusiastic support from many of your officers, who seemed truly delighted by my recovery.

I feel a special bond and gratitude to these wonderful officers. Their professional competence was overshadowed only by their humane expressions of warm support. I will never forget their priceless gift to me.

I feel in my heart that your officers were my best friends during a very bad episode in my life. Bless them all and please convey to them my sincere expression of gratitude.

Dear Mary,

There are times when I am unable to adequately express the respect I have for the truly wonderful job that you do as my assistant. I hope that this note will lessen that shortcoming slightly.

Yesterday, you, once again, demonstrated your abilities, professionalism, resourcefulness, and dedication to doing a job well. After many attempts, a tele-video proceeding was scheduled for an inmate at Sing Sing Correctional Facility at 1:30 p.m. When I, the assigned counsel, and the court reporter arrived it was discovered that the proper connection had not been made. We all sat around wondering what to do. You entered the room, assessed the situation, and immediately began a series of telephone calls which resulted in the link being established and the hearing being held with little loss of time to all. Had you not acted as you did we probably would be still sitting in that room starring at the television screen waiting for something to happen.

This is just the most recent example of your talents put to good use for my benefit and the Courts'. It is one reason why I value my relationship with you.

Thank you for all of your efforts to make my job easier and me a better Support Magistrate.

The Westchester County Probation Department is celebrating Probation, Parole & Community Supervision Officer's Week (July 18 -24). We are taking this as an opportunity to thank people who help us provide quality probation services to Westchester County.
