Hon. Alexander W. Hunter, Jr. Appointed to Appellate Term

NEW YORK – Chief Administrative Judge Ann Pfau today announced the appointment of Hon. Alexander W. Hunter, Jr. as Associate Justice of the Appellate Term of the Supreme Court, First Judicial Department. The court has jurisdiction over appeals from the New York City Criminal and Civil Courts.

Hon. Alexander W. Hunter became a New York City Criminal Court judge in 1986. He was appointed an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 1993 and was elected as a Supreme Court judge for Bronx County in 1994. Judge Hunter began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County and subsequently served as Principal Law Clerk to Justice Albert P. Williams and as an Adjunct Professor of legal research and writing at Bronx Community College of the City University of New York. He is Vice Chairman of the Highbridge Advisory Council of Family Services, Inc.; Director of the Board of Visitors of Pace University School of Law; and Vice President and Director of Temple University College of Liberal Arts Alumni Board. Judge Hunter earned his Juris Doctor at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law.

The appointment is effective immediately.
